What Screen Recorder does

Screen recording is the fastest way to show a bug, demonstrate a workflow or capture something that is easier to show than to describe.

This uses the browser's own screen-capture and recording APIs. The video is assembled in the page and saved directly to your device — it is never uploaded, which is the main reason to use it rather than a hosted recorder.

How to use Screen Recorder

    The browser asks what to share and shows its own picker. Nothing is captured until you choose.

    The browser displays its own recording indicator throughout, so it is always visible that capture is active.

    Stop from the tool, or from the browser's own sharing control.

    Watch it back, then save it. Nothing is stored, so download before closing the tab.

Limits and known behaviour

  • Output is WebM in most browsers. Some video editors and older software do not accept it, and it may need converting.
  • There is no pause, no trimming and no annotation. Use the video trimmer afterwards to cut the ends.
  • Resolution, frame rate and bitrate are chosen by the browser and cannot be set here.
  • Audio capture varies by browser and platform. Some combinations capture tab audio only, and some capture none.
  • Microphone narration is not recorded; only the audio the browser shares with the capture.
  • Long recordings accumulate in memory, so a very long session can exhaust the tab.
  • Screen recording is not available in every mobile browser.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a time limit?

No fixed limit, but the recording is held in memory until you save it, so very long captures can exhaust the tab. Record in segments for anything lengthy.

Why is there no sound?

Audio capture depends on the browser and on what you shared. Sharing a browser tab usually allows tab audio; sharing an entire screen often does not, and on macOS system audio is frequently unavailable.

Can I convert the WebM file to MP4?

Not with this tool. The audio converter handles audio only; converting video containers needs a desktop application.
