Case Converter

Convert text between upper, lower, title, sentence, camel, Pascal, snake and kebab case.

Case Converter

Convert text between different naming conventions. Your input is kept as you typed it.

Accents, CJK and emoji are preserved; existing camelCase word boundaries are recognised.

What Case Converter does

Naming conventions differ between languages and systems: a database column in snake_case becomes a JavaScript property in camelCase and a CSS class in kebab-case. Converting by hand is tedious and easy to get subtly wrong.

The converter splits your text into words, recognising existing camelCase boundaries as well as spaces, hyphens and underscores, then rejoins them in the convention you pick.

  • UPPER CASE, lower case, Title Case and Sentence case
  • camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case and kebab-case
  • Recognises existing camelCase boundaries when splitting
  • Preserves accented and non-Latin characters

How to use Case Converter

  1. 1

    Paste your text

One identifier, a list of them, or a block of prose.

  2. 2

    Pick a case

The converted result appears alongside your original.

  3. 3

    Copy the output

The original stays in place so you can convert it again differently.

Example

One name across four conventions

Input

userProfileImageUrl

Output

snake_case: user_profile_image_url
kebab-case: user-profile-image-url
Title Case: User Profile Image Url
UPPER CASE: USERPROFILEIMAGEURL

Limits and known behaviour

  • Title Case capitalises every word. Editorial style guides keep short prepositions and articles lowercase, so proofread a heading afterwards.
  • Acronyms do not survive conversion cleanly: parseHTTPResponse becomes parse_h_t_t_p_response under a rule that treats each capital as a boundary.
  • Sentence case capitalises the first letter only; it cannot know which of the remaining words are proper nouns.
  • Programming-case conversions remove punctuation, since identifiers cannot contain it.

Privacy and data handling

Runs entirely in your browser

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between camelCase and PascalCase?

Only the first letter. camelCase starts lowercase and is the usual convention for variables and properties; PascalCase starts uppercase and is conventional for classes, types and components.

Why did my acronym get split up?

Splitting on capital letters cannot distinguish an acronym from three separate words. Fix those cases by hand, or write acronyms in the source as a single capitalised word.
