Sign PDF

Draw a signature and place it on a page of a PDF, then save the signed document.

What Sign PDF does

Printing a document to sign it and scanning it back is slow and produces a worse file. Drawing the signature directly and placing it on the page avoids both.

You draw with a mouse, trackpad or finger, position the image where it belongs, and the signature is written into the document when you save.

  • Draw a signature in the browser
  • Position it anywhere on the page
  • Navigate to the page that needs signing
  • Save the signature into the document

How to use Sign PDF

  1. 1

    Open the PDF

Navigate to the page that needs a signature.

  2. 2

    Draw your signature

A touchscreen or stylus gives a much better result than a mouse. Clear and redraw until it looks right.

  3. 3

    Place it on the page

Drag it onto the signature line and check the size.

  4. 4

    Save the signed document

The signature is written into the new file you download.

Limits and known behaviour

  • The signature is applied to one page at a time. A document requiring initials on every page has to be handled page by page.
  • This places an image of a signature. It is not a cryptographic digital signature and does not certify the document or detect later changes.
  • Whether a drawn signature is legally sufficient depends on the jurisdiction and the type of agreement. Many everyday documents accept one; some require a witnessed or notarised signature, and some require a certificate-based digital signature.
  • There is no identity verification, audit trail or timestamp, which is what dedicated e-signature services provide.
  • Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened. The PDF library used here has no decryption support, so an encrypted file is rejected rather than partially processed. Remove the password in a PDF reader first.

Privacy and data handling

Runs entirely in your browser

  • Your PDF is read into this page by the browser and rebuilt here. It is never uploaded, so no copy of it exists on any server.
  • Your signature is drawn in the page and embedded into the document there. No image of your signature is uploaded or retained by this site.
  • The original file on your disk is not modified; the tool produces a new file for you to download.
  • Nothing is kept after you close the tab.

Site-wide data handling, including analytics and advertising, is described in the privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions

Is a signature added here legally binding?

Often, but it depends on the jurisdiction and the document. Many countries recognise electronic signatures for routine agreements, while property transfers, wills and some regulated contracts have stricter requirements. Check what the specific document demands.

How is this different from a digital signature?

A digital signature uses a certificate to bind a signer's identity to the document and to prove it has not been altered since. This tool places a picture of your handwriting, which carries no cryptographic guarantee.

Can I sign every page at once?

No, the signature is applied to the current page.
